In 2015, the European Parliament proclaimed August 2 as the European Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Roma Holocaust. Since then, anniversary celebrations have been organized in many European countries to remember the victims of brutal persecution and genocide experienced by the Roma and Sinti during World War II. Today, on the 80th anniversary of these events, more than ever, we should remember this tragic part of European history, understand its consequences and strive to ensure that its memory does not disappear.
