Military uprising in Slovakia

The Slovak National Uprising was the culmination of two streams of Slovak resistance – civic and communist – with the clear objective of breaking away from Germany. It is one of the greatest European anti-fascist resistance uprisings of the war. After the uprising was defeated, partisans continued fighting in the mountains. Leaders of the uprising manifested the will to renew the Czechoslovak Republic, but not according to the pre-war concept of Czechoslovakism but rather as a state of equal nations.
