29 March: Entry of the ‘Greens’ (‘Grünen’ ) into the German Bundestag
The peace and environment movements meet politically in The Greens’ party. “Greens” are concerned about progressive environmental destruction and threats to peace from atomic weapons. Unique clothing and spontaneous actions differentiate the “Greens” from other parties as an alternative to the traditional political everyday life. Their entry into the Bundestag with hand-knitted pullovers, long beards and sunflowers causes irritation, but also a break-up of well-worn political forms.
