1 December: Unification of Bessarabia, Bucovina, Transylvania and Banat with Romania
Within the context of the First World War and collapse of the multinational empires, the Romanians outside the borders of the country have intensified the battle for getting out from the authority of Russia and Austria-Hungary and for unifying with Romania. Representative organs were constituted: Country Council in Bessarabia, General Council of Bukovina, Governing Council in Transylvania which decided the union with “the mother country” Romania. In this way the process of creating the Romanian unitary national state is completed.
