Parliamentary election with a united list of candidates

The 1948 parliamentary election was held with a united list of candidates. Disapproval could be expressed only by casting a white vote. The election was held in an atmosphere of fear and lack of freedom. Its results were intentionally forced in individual regions – rounded up in favour of the united list of candidates. 84.9 percent of Slovaks voted for the united list of candidates. At that time, parliament was only a weak tool subordinated to Communist power. All future parliamentary elections had united list of candidates until the free election in 1989.
