The Moscow Percentages Agreement
In Moscow, the British Prime Minister Winston Churchill signed a secret agreement with Joseph Stalin concerning the establishment of influence spheres. It was the beginning of the ‘Iron Curtain’ and of the communisation of Eastern Europe. In the percentages agreement, Romania was to be 90 per cent under Soviet influence and only 10 per cent under Anglo-American influence. The Red Army, which had already occupied Romania’s territory, was the first vector of this influence. What followed was the implementation of a Stalinist political model through local communists.
