How can educators respond to disinformation in the classroom? How can they help students distinguish between facts, interpretations and manipulation in an increasingly complex information environment? These questions were at the centre of the workshop “Disinformation in the Field of Education”, organised during the 14th European Remembrance Symposium in Bratislava. Bringing together educators and memory practitioners from across Europe, the session offered practical tools and strategies for strengthening critical thinking and media literacy in educational settings.

How can teachers help students navigate a world saturated with misleading information, manipulation and historical distortions? What practical tools can support critical thinking in the classroom? And how can education strengthen resilience against disinformation?

These were some of the questions explored during the workshop “Disinformation in the Field of Education”, held as part of the 14th European Remembrance Symposium in Bratislava. The workshop was led by Urszula Bijoś (European Network Remembrance and Solidarity) and Michal Keim (Institute of National Remembrance, Poland) and brought together educators, memory practitioners and cultural professionals from across Europe.

Participants discussed the growing challenges posed by false and misleading content and reflected on the role of education in helping young people develop media literacy, source criticism and independent judgement. The workshop combined practical examples with hands-on activities, encouraging participants to examine how disinformation operates and how it can be addressed in educational settings.
