Preparatory meeting of the Slovak World Congress, 19 – 21 June 1970
After the fourth wave of Slovak emigrants in three decades, a meeting of Slovak exile officials decided to establish a worldwide organisation of Slovaks abroad – the Slovak World Congress. It was to coordinate the activities of organisations working abroad in the interests of Slovaks. It was practically impossible to create an absolutely uniform basis, but the congress succeeded in integrating the larger and most important parts of the associations.
